Hyundai has already wowed the world with its award-winning Ioniq 5 and sleek Ioniq 6 electric vehicles. Now, the brand is going even bigger literally. Meet the Hyundai Ioniq 9, a full-size, three-row electric SUV designed to carry your family, friends, and everything else in between without burning a drop of fuel.

Think of it as Hyundai’s all-electric answer to the popular Palisade, or a sibling to the Kia EV9. Only this time, it’s smoother, longer, roomier and yes, it comes with a Tesla charging port straight from the factory. That alone hints at just how serious Hyundai is about making life easier for EV drivers.

A Look at the Design

Previewed initially as the bold Ioniq Seven concept, the production-ready Ioniq 9 stays true to its futuristic roots while adding real-world practicality. It’s slightly more refined in shape than the boxy Kia EV9, with a rounded, more premium aesthetic. At just over 5 metres in length (199.2 inches), with a long 3.13-metre wheelbase (123.2 inches), this SUV is made to stretch out in.

Expect a flat-floor interior with tons of space, sleek LED lighting, and an overall cabin design that feels like a modern lounge on wheels perfect for family road trips or just enjoying the city in comfort and quiet.

Power, Range & Everyday Practicality

Under the hood well, under the floor the Ioniq 9 rides on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which has already proven itself with the Ioniq 5 and 6. But this version gets an even bigger battery: a 110.3 kWh pack that helps push the range past 540 kilometres (335 miles) in the Long-Range rear-wheel-drive version.

That’s a strong number, even when compared to top competitors, and it gets better: Every single trim of the Ioniq 9 delivers over 480 kilometres of range no range anxiety here.

The Ioniq 9 will be available in several configurations, including:

Charging times are just as impressive. Thanks to 800V fast-charging capability, the Ioniq 9 can go from 10% to 80% in around 24 minutes with a 350 kW DC fast charger faster than your average coffee break.

And for those who love tech, the Ioniq 9 supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) which means you can power your camping gear, charge another EV, or even help power your home during an outage.

Built for the Future, Close to Home

The Ioniq 9 will be assembled at Hyundai’s new Metaplant in Georgia, USA a key move as automakers shift production closer to major EV markets. It’s also part of Hyundai’s broader strategy to lead in the electric SUV space, particularly for families who need space, comfort, and long-distance capability.

While the vehicle is primarily targeted at North American buyers initially, it’s likely to make its way to global markets, including the Middle East and UAE, where electric vehicle adoption is rising quickly thanks to infrastructure growth and increasing consumer interest in sustainable mobility.

When Can You Get One?

Production kicks off in early 2025, with deliveries expected to begin soon after. If you’re in the market for a large electric SUV that combines tech, space, and style, the Ioniq 9 is shaping up to be one of the most compelling options on the road.

With its generous range, fast-charging tech, Tesla-compatible port, and stylish, family-friendly design, the Ioniq 9 could be the perfect companion for UAE drivers looking to make the shift to electric without compromising on size, comfort, or convenience.Thinking of switching to electric?
